Mindful Eating Moment #1
Mindful eating is the practice (i.e. takes time and practice!) of developing a curious, judgement-free awareness around food and eating. We use all of our senses to be tuned in to our body and the whole eating experience.
Why is this useful? Or necessary?
Because when we are aware, without judgement, we can CHOOSE FREELY. We can see and feel what our body needs and wants, and we are free to make choices based on this, rather than some external rule, regulation, or plan. Hallelujah for FOOD FREEDOM!
So this week, just practice slowing down around food – be a little more conscious when you choose food, prepare food and eat it. Notice the sensations around you and within your body, and any thoughts (even judgements!) that pop into your head. Next week we will explore how to start putting all of this into practice.
